Sara Badiali is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in multi-disciplinary consulting, specializing in building deconstruction and material reuse initiatives. Over the course of her career, she has played a pivotal role in various consulting projects, contributing to the development of comprehensive plans and strategies for public policies, communication and outreach efforts, job training and development programs, as well as education and marketing campaigns.

With a notable five-year tenure as a consultant for the City of Portland’s Deconstruction Advisory Group, Sara has demonstrated her expertise in policy formulation and advocacy. She was instrumental in crafting and driving the adoption of the pioneering building deconstruction policy in North America. Additionally, she served as the Assistant Trainer for the City of Portland’s Deconstruction Contractor and Workforce Certification program, further solidifying her leadership in the field.

In recognition of her contributions to the industry, Sara was presented with the Emerald Award for Exceptional Academic of Training Activities Related to Deconstruction and Building Material Reuse issued by Building Materials Reuse Association (Build Reuse) in Sep 2017.

Sara holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Portland State University. She is also an accomplished author, having published the first book on building deconstruction and material reuse policy called Breaking it Down and numerous articles.

Early in her career, Sara gained hands-on experience by coordinating and managing deconstruction projects for the largest reuse organization in Portland, Oregon, further enriching her practical insights and expertise in the field.
